Experience Prior To The Program

I had little to no financial knowledge before joining the Analyst Prep Program. This was the very reason why I decided to join the program; I wanted to develop my financial expertise and learn about the general work that professionals in the finance industry perform on a day-to-day basis. I also wanted to grow as a student and financial leader to equip myself with the necessary skills to start adding value to organizations on day one of employment.

Training Experience

The most valuable aspect of the training was how the entire Analyst Prep Program, along with the recruitment process, is implemented. I believe the training experience begins the moment an applicant clicks “Submit” on their application. The three interviews, one of which was with an Analyst Prep Program alumni, and the five modules complemented with exercises and projects are very much similar to those that applicants will typically encounter when applying to large banks and corporations. However, for the program, Mr. Romero creates a personalized experience by teaching and reviewing concepts based on the participant’s learning style during one-on-one meetings.

Initially, when I joined the program, I was nervous about my lack of financial knowledge and my performance, but Mr. Romero was very respectful and willing to go the extra mile for my success. The mentorship of the program is an excellent first step into the finance world for any student.

Internship Experience

The internship experience not only elevated my financial competency but made me realize how much I love accounting and performing financial analyses on publicly traded companies. The training helped me fulfill my internship responsibilities tremendously by teaching me how full-time analysts develop an investment pitch from scratch and guiding me in the development of the necessary skill-set to succeed in the finance field. The personal meetings with Mr. Romero after each module of the curriculum were beneficial in understanding the various financial models and what terminology means in the context of finance.

Mentorship

The one-on-one mentorship was extremely helpful, and it played a massive role in my overall experience in the program. Initially, when I joined the program, I was nervous about my lack of financial knowledge and my performance, but Mr. Romero was very respectful and willing to go the extra mile for my success. The mentorship of the program is an excellent first step into the finance world for any student.

Career Development

The program provoked critical thinking and introspection. During the resume review session and many other of my one-on-one meetings with Mr. Romero, I was encouraged to really think about what makes me unique and what my strengths and weaknesses are, and how I can leverage my strengths to improve my weaknesses.
