Prior to joining, I had very little financial knowledge. I had tried the Wall Street Prep financial modeling courses but had a lot of trouble taking what they were teaching and using it for my own case studies. So I did some research and found Romero Mentoring through a LinkedIn post. I was skeptical at first however, after speaking with Mr. Romero and a couple of program graduates, I knew that this was something that would be very valuable to me as I was looking to break into investment banking. I was looking to gain necessary technical experience for investment banking interviews and general market knowledge.
The most valuable part of the training is the connection from the videos Mr. Romero made to the models you make during the internship. His way of explaining not just what you do, but why you do it really creates an analytical mindset that is necessary for investment banking. Through this experience, I was able to leverage my knowledge in interviews and secure an offer at a boutique investment bank as a summer analyst following my sophomore year of college.

The training during the mentoring program directly correlates to the work you are expected to complete during the internship. The program also allows you to refer back to the videos you learned from and use them as guides when completing the models and Mr. Romero does a great job of making himself available for questions during his weekly class sessions. My experience from the internship allowed me to really understand the technical concepts that an investment banker uses on a day-to-day basis such as accounting principles and valuation methodologies.
After every project, I would meet with Mr. Romero to discuss my work and the assumptions I had made in the models. He would often dissect my work and ask me questions as to how I came up with the metrics I used and what made me decide to use them. This was truly the part that accelerated my learning the most, it was like taking a test and having the teacher evaluate your answers and explain to you why you were right or why you were wrong.
I was able to leverage this experience in networking calls and interviews which helped me gain traction with many opportunities in the investment banking industry. This is a great place to start your finance career.
If you are hesitant about joining, I can resonate with you, I was too. However, I truly dedicate my success to this program and the opportunities that I am pursuing now would not be possible without this program.
