Experience Prior To The Program

Personally, I had already completed a few internships in finance before joining the Analyst Prep Program. However, I was not able to get much exposure to financial modeling in those experiences. Consequently, my main goal for joining the program was to not only reinforce my technical knowledge, but also to learn how to apply that knowledge by utilizing models on real companies.

Training Experience

The financial modeling skills that I gained were very important to my career goal of working in investment banking. Since I was applying for full-time roles, in many of my IB interviews bankers really wanted to see that I had previous experience with modeling and that I could hit the ground running if given the opportunity.

The one-on-one mentorship was undoubtedly one of the most invaluable aspects of the program. Mr. Romero is very open to answering any questions that you have, whether its about valuation/modeling or just general career advice.

Internship Experience

Overall, the internship experience was great. I had the opportunity to work on a diverse set of projects – from tech companies to consumer/retail companies – that covered almost every valuation topic. Additionally, through the multiple projects and review sessions with Mr. Romero, I was able to learn how to really analyze the numbers and see the story that the numbers were trying to tell. Lastly, the training helped me fulfill my internship responsibilities by solidifying my technical knowledge and by teaching me how to construct an investment pitch from scratch.

Mentorship

The one-on-one mentorship was undoubtedly one of the most invaluable aspects of the program. Mr. Romero is very open to answering any questions that you have, whether its about valuation/modeling or just general career advice. In terms of the latter, Mr. Romero not only gave me detailed feedback on my resume, but also gave me advice on how I should tackle full-time recruiting.

Career Development

Through the program, I had the chance to connect with several alumni that had previously been in the program and now work in IB. All the alumni were more than happy to take time out of their busy schedules to have a conversation with me, which I believe says a lot about the community. Ultimately, this was a great opportunity to expand on my existing network and interact with professionals in the industry.

Final Remarks

I highly recommend that any student who is interested in finance apply to the program. Overall it is a worthwhile investment in your future as it allows you to develop a great skillset that will help you succeed in the industry. Additionally, I think it is important to note that unlike other training platforms out there, Romero Mentoring is much more personalized and hands-on.
