Background
Jordan Murphy enrolled in our 2022 analyst prep program six months after graduating from Louisiana State University. He majored in Finance but only had secured three months of internship experience by the time of graduating. Jordan was passionate about joining our program to gain a comprehensive understanding of the world of finance and the skills essential to becoming a top performer.
The Results
- After completing the Analyst Prep program, Jordan had shown substantial growth in his understanding of corporate finance and found a strong interest in private equity and alternative assets.
- Jordan began networking with alumni of the program and professionals who worked in private markets while continuing to polish his technical skills for a year after completing the program
- These connections lead to a full-time opportunity with Preqin as an Analyst in their Liquidity Management team which has also been acquired by Black Rock.
- Jordan is still working with Romero Mentoring as a mentor / advisor and will began working pursing his CFA license in Spring 2025 with exam one.
The Challenge
At the time of joining the program, Jordan was working in the food & beverage industry as a
server after having no luck pursing a full-time corporate finance role after graduating. Although
he did have a finance degree, he did not attend a target school and lacked critical technical
skills required in top tier financial firms. Furthermore, Jordan’s was from low-income family and
faced environmental circumstances that made his pursuit harder. He was very aware of his
surroundings which is why he was very motivated about the program and understood he
needed to fill the gap in his technical and soft skills ASAP, to be more competitive in the current
job market.
The Transformation
In 15 weeks, Jordan had completed our 196 structured investment banking training, mentoring
internship and career development program.
- He received essential training in Excel and PowerPoint and gained a solid foundational
base in accounting, valuation, and financial modeling that ultimately set him up for
success in performing in his interviews and achieving his desired role in alternative
assets. - He created pitchbook presentations displaying his valuations that were reviewed
thoroughly and understood how to present final deliverables to clients. - We also taught Jordan our time-tested investment strategies rooted in fundamental
analysis, as well as technical analysis skills to help him better identify investment
opportunities in public and private markets. - As Jordan pursued his full-time role, he mentored and took time to review interns’
presentations within the program.
Jordan credits much of his inspiring success to our program and the valuable skills he
developed which he applies on the job today. Our system gave Jordan tremendous competitive
advantage and offered him a blueprint for success.
