Experience Prior To The Program

Prior to joining Romero Mentoring, I had interned in a few finance roles. However, these roles did not help me to build the financial modeling skills that I knew were necessary for investment banking, equity research, and asset management roles. My goals for joining Romero Mentoring were to develop those financial modeling skills and underlying understanding.

Training Experience

The most valuable part of the training was building similar but slightly different financial models. Those repetitions helped me to better understand what I was doing and why I was doing it. Now, I feel confident in building full financial models from blank Excel spreadsheets. Having this capability and understanding has helped me to perform well in interviews and internships.

Without the program, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Romero Mentoring is challenging but extremely rewarding if you put the time in.

Internship Experience

The Romero Capital internship experience allowed me to directly apply what I learned from Romero Mentoring. With each project during the internship, everything from Romero Mentoring seemed to come together more and more. Everything taught in Romero Mentoring is necessary in analyzing a company and building its financial model.

Mentorship

The one-on-one mentorship is a key aspect that separates Romero Mentoring from other prep courses. The check-in sessions after each module were very helpful for making sure that I intuitively understood the content. The feedback on projects during the internship helped me to improve how to think about building a financial model and presenting an analysis on a company. Lastly, Luis’ mentorship with regards to navigating the internship and job searches was invaluable, given that he has experience going through the process himself and having helped other Romero mentees navigate their processes. Without Luis’ guidance, I would not have the job that I have today.

Career Development

Without the program, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Romero Mentoring taught me the tangible tools that helped me to get offers, and I know everything that I learned will help me in my career.

Final Remarks

Thank you, Luis and Paige. I am very appreciative to be a part of this community. Romero Mentoring is challenging but extremely rewarding if you put the time in. My advice to prospective mentees is to reach out to current mentees or alumni of the program and hear their stories about Romero Mentoring. This program has helped me to grow so much, and I hope that it can help someone else too.
