Prior to joining Romero Mentoring in December 2019, I had worked as an information technology intern at Innovative Information Technology in New Jersey. However, I did not have much finance experience at that point.
One of the values that Romero Mentoring brings is selecting the right information from the perspective of an industry professional. Mr. Romero speaks from his own experience and carefully points out what is actually useful to pursue a career in finance. The pure finance-related information can be found in books but it will not be from the perspective of Mr. Romero where he brings to you what he learned over the years. What I found to be particularly useful are the case studies which allow me to train my modeling skills while receiving feedback on it later. For example, doing an LBO model on Express was very useful.
Truly enjoyed getting to know Mr. Romero, Ms. Truong, and people from the Romero community. I was surprised by how many personal meetings you have with Mr. Romero and that gives me a very personal experience. I am very thankful for the lessons and support the program has given me.
At the internship, I learned the ability to create a fleshed out deck along with a multipronged model. I did so for multiple companies and that allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of these businesses and have the chance to train my financial modeling and presentation skills.
The one-on-one mentorship is extremely helpful as you have the chance to ask any type of question. I remember Mr. Romero explaining how there could be such a disconnect between fundamental earnings and stock-market performance and those things gave me a new perspective on what I had already learned.
With Romero Mentoring, you have the chance to work on your resume and learn more about the finance industry. Furthermore, you always have the chance to ask any type of career questions.
