Experience Prior To The Program

Prior to joining the program, I had some knowledge of essential finance concepts but lacked the experience of applying those concepts. In joining the program, my goal was to expand my knowledge as well as technical experience such as being able to build a 3 financial statement model.

Training Experience

I find the the content taught in the training section really helpful as it provides those with little or no prior finance knowledge to gain a comprehensive understanding of the topic. For instance, the leverage buyout lesson not only covers the basic principles, but also step by step of the entire leverage buyout process allowing students of all finance expertise understand how to do an LBO.

This program provided actual technical experience most internships don’t teach students and it’s precisely so that this experience is essential to be successful.

Internship Experience

The internship experience provide opportunities to apply the concepts learned during the training section in a professional work environment. The training allowed me to be better equipped to handle the internship’s responsibilities given to me, spanning from the application of a variety of technical skills. For instance, taking knowledge from the leverage buyout and financial statements section of the training helped tremendously in the Pennant Group LBO project to value the pro-forma company.

Mentorship

The one-on-one mentorship was helpful with providing feedback on both the training and internship sections of the program. It was able to help me improve the quality of the work I produced, from formatting to content related feedback. For example, the one on one sessions after each internship project was very valuable as most of the time, some necessary revisions needs to be made for the work to be client-ready.

Career Development

This program provided actual technical experience most internships don’t teach students and it’s precisely so that this experience is essential to be successful entering the corporate business world and the re-branding process highlights that. Graduating from the program, I am now able to provide client-ready work and have the understanding to speak about the projects that I’ve worked on which is something I wouldn’t be able to do before the program.
