Econ Major Analyst Prep Student Breaks Into Capital Markets
Background
Skye Luo enrolled in our 2020 program as a rising sophomore from New York University (NYU). She was an international student majoring in Economics with no professional experience or technical training. When we first interviewed Skye, she had a poor understanding about the world of finance. She was shy and lacked confidence in her abilities. This was due to not having the right skill set, proper mentoring and coaching, and not having the relevant experience. With our program she gained investment banking skills, hands on training, the right experience and 1-on-1 mentoring. All of this gave her confidence and the competitive advantage to secure a full-time job offer at J.P Morgan.
The Results
- After completing the Analyst Prep program, she received multiple internship offers at various firms building her professional experience and maturity.
- She acquired financial modeling and investment analysis experience which positioned her as a top candidate for fulltime recruiting.
- Skye was able to secure a full-time Analyst role at J.P Morgan within the capital markets division in their Hong Kong office.
The Challenge
Skye went to a target school, New York University. However, to stand out from her peers, she needed a competitive advantage. Skye had no professional experience, no financial modeling and no business valuation skills. She also lacked confidence in her ability to ace interviews because she was non-finance major. Skye enrolled in our program to develop investment banking skills, work with professionals in the industry, develop confidence and gain relevant experience through our internship.
The Transformation
In 15-week weeks Skye had completed our 196-hour structured investment banking training, mentoring, internship, and career development program.
- She completed assignments in financial modeling, pitch book presentations and valuation that were reviewed during live classes to ensure she fully understood the course material.
- She learned advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills and gained a solid foundational base in accounting, valuation, and financial modeling which prepared her for future interviews.
- She also learned investment strategies and developed a strong understanding of capital markets.
- Skye also completed our internship, where she was tasked with performing investment analysis, building financial models and offering her recommendation
By the end of the program Skye had gained the same on-the-job skills professionals take years to develop, giving her a tremendous competitive advantage. Our system offered Sky a blueprint for success.
Skye credits much of her early success to our program and the valuable skills she developed which she applies on the job today.
