Experience Prior To The Program

Prior to joining the Analyst Prep Program, I had very limited experience in finance. I was a freshman in college who took a few finance courses and was part of a few clubs. I joined the program because I wanted to expand my knowledge in the industry and explore my career path.

Training Experience

I found the case studies and technical skill modules most valuable. I learned how to perform a variety of valuation methods including DCF, precedent transactions, multiple valuations, and I also learned how to build a fully functional financial model. The case studies helped me understand the topics a lot more and gave great in-depth examples.

I feel a lot more confident in my ability to perform due diligence, building financial models, valuation, and more after completing the program. These are things that my classes don’t teach me but I feel are extremely important for my career development.

Internship Experience

The internship experience allowed me to put the skills I developed throughout the program to use through analyzing real companies. I built financial models and valued different companies and presented them in a PowerPoint format. In addition to helping me improve my technical skills, the internship also taught me soft skills such as attention to detail and how to put together client-ready presentations.

Mentorship

Having weekly calls with Mr. Romero helped me understand concepts a lot better. He was able to explain concepts such as when to use different valuation methods in different scenarios and how to apply them to the real world.

Career Development

I feel a lot more confident in my ability to perform due diligence, building financial models, valuation, and more after completing the program. These are things that my classes don’t teach me but I feel are extremely important for my career development. While interviewing for companies, I was able to express my knowledge and passion for finance and investing because of my experience with the program.

Final Remarks

The Analyst Prep Program has definitely been one of my most valuable experiences in college so far. It taught me a lot of skills that I wouldn't have been able to learn in school that allowed me to get a head start on my finance career. It's a lot of work and time commitment, but it's definitely worth it!
